PEDIATRIC ORTHODONTICS & AIRWAY DENTISTRY
Proper jaw development impacts much more than a straight smile. It directly dictates how your child breathes, sleeps, and grows. We take a proactive approach to pediatric orthodontics. We do not wait for severe crowding to occur before taking action. Early evaluation allows us to guide the growth of the jaw bones while they are still malleable. This prevents the need for complex surgical interventions later in life.
INTERCEPTIVE ORTHODONTICS & GUIDED GROWTH
By addressing structural issues early, we create a healthy foundation for incoming adult teeth. We tailor these specific treatments to your child's unique developmental window.
CLEAR ALIGNERS FOR ORTHODONTIC
Traditional metal braces are no longer the only option for correcting alignment. We offer clear aligner therapy for children and teens who need precise orthodontic correction. These custom trays apply gentle, consistent pressure to shift teeth into their optimal positions. They are completely removable. This allows your child to brush and floss normally, drastically reducing the risk of cavities during active orthodontic treatment.
RECOGNIZING THE SIGNS OF
AIRWAY & ALIGNMENT ISSUES
Mothers are often the first to notice structural or breathing abnormalities at home. Look for these specific indicators during your child's daily routine.
Chronic mouth breathing: Breathing primarily through the mouth while awake, watching television, or asleep.
Sleep disruptions: Frequent snoring, gasping for air, or heavy teeth grinding at night.
Visible crowding: Baby teeth that sit completely flush together with zero natural gaps between them.
Prolonged habits: Thumb sucking or pacifier use extending past age three.
AIRWAY DENTISTRY
A narrow dental arch often leads to a restricted airway. Children with restricted airways frequently resort to chronic mouth breathing. This disrupts sleep quality, reduces oxygen intake, and alters facial development over time. Airway dentistry focuses on correcting this exact connection.
We evaluate the structure of the mouth, jaw, and throat to identify physical obstructions. By expanding the palate and correcting tongue posture, we help your child transition back to healthy, restorative nasal breathing.
EARLY ORTHODONTIC EXPANSION
A narrow upper jaw physically limits the space available for adult teeth. This causes severe crowding and poor bite alignment. We use custom palatal expanders to gently widen the upper jaw over a period of several months.
This creates the necessary room for permanent teeth to erupt naturally into their correct positions. Palatal expansion also broadens the floor of the nasal cavity, directly supporting the airway interventions mentioned above.
Early intervention yields the most stable, long-lasting results for your child. Contact our clinic to schedule a comprehensive evaluation of your child's airway and oral development.
