Pediatric Dentist, U.S. Army Veteran, & Global Health Advocate
Dr. Andrew Vo is a compassionate and highly skilled pediatric dentist whose career is built on a foundation of service, education, and a deep passion for improving children's oral health. With extensive experience in treating children of all needs, including those with special needs, autism, and dental anxiety, Dr. Vo is committed to providing exceptional care tailored to each child’s unique situation.
A Strong Educational Foundation
Dr. Vo’s journey in dentistry began at the University of Southern California (USC), where he graduated with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2015. His desire to further expand his expertise led him to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) in 2016, where he gained valuable experience working with diverse patient populations. However, his true calling was pediatric dentistry, which led him to pursue further specialization.
In 2019, Dr. Vo completed his Master of Dental Science (MS) and a Pediatric Dentistry Certificate at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University. During his residency, Dr. Vo not only mastered pediatric dental procedures but also specialized in the care of children with complex medical needs, including special needs and autism. As Chief Resident, Dr. Vo demonstrated exceptional leadership, mentoring fellow residents and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for children who required extra support.
Specialized Skills in Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Vo’s training and expertise go beyond general pediatric dentistry, equipping him with the unique skills necessary to care for children with a wide range of needs:
Special Needs Dentistry: Dr. Vo is highly trained in managing children with special needs, including those with physical or developmental disabilities. His experience enables him to offer tailored treatment plans, ensuring children with varying abilities feel comfortable and well-cared for during their dental visits.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Having worked with many children on the autism spectrum, Dr. Vo understands the challenges these children may face when visiting the dentist. His approach is patient and empathetic, using techniques like visual aids, social stories, and sensory-friendly practices to make the dental experience more comfortable for children with autism.
Dental Anxiety & Fear: Many children experience dental anxiety, which can make trips to the dentist stressful. Dr. Vo employs a gentle, child-friendly approach to make dental visits as enjoyable and anxiety-free as possible. He uses calm, clear communication and positive reinforcement to ease children's fears. For children who need extra support, he also offers relaxation techniques and coping strategies to make the experience more manageable.
General Anesthesia & Sedation: Dr. Vo is well-versed in providing dental care under general anesthesia for children who may require more intensive treatment or have high levels of dental anxiety. His training in sedation dentistry allows him to offer safe, effective solutions that help children relax during procedures, ensuring they receive the care they need in a calm and controlled environment.
Medically Compromised Children: Dr. Vo has extensive experience in treating children with medical conditions that may complicate dental procedures. His expertise includes managing children with heart conditions, diabetes, neurological disorders, and other chronic health issues, always working closely with other healthcare providers to ensure the best outcomes.
U.S. Army Service – A Commitment to Service and Leadership
Dr. Vo’s military service as a Captain in the U.S. Army from 2015 to 2019 has greatly influenced his approach to patient care. The skills he developed during his time as a dentist in the Army—such as discipline, leadership, and a deep commitment to service—have shaped the way he practices pediatric dentistry. Dr. Vo’s background in the military has further refined his ability to work under pressure and manage complex situations with calm precision, which is especially valuable when treating children with special needs or dental anxiety.
Continuing Service in the Reserves
Dr. Vo continues his service as a Major in the Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) Dental Corps in the reserves, where he remains dedicated to supporting military personnel and their families. His ongoing military service strengthens his leadership, problem-solving, and clinical skills, which he brings to his work as a pediatric dentist.
Global Outreach & Giving Back
Dr. Vo has made it a priority to provide free dental care to children in underserved communities around the world. His outreach efforts have taken him to Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala, and Los Angeles County, where he has delivered much-needed dental services to children in areas where access to dental care is limited. His work in these communities reflects his deep commitment to improving the oral health and well-being of children, regardless of their location or background.

Dr. Vo’s dedication to pediatric dentistry has earned him recognition on both a national and global scale. He was named one of Top 40 Dentists Under 40 and was featured on CNBC’s Made It for his entrepreneurial efforts. He is also a published author, having written research focused on improving access to pediatric dental care and advocating for increased funding for pediatric dental programs nationwide.
